About US ACTIVATED CARBON FOR GOLD RECOVERY INDUSTRY

The Activated Carbon Project is an initiative of the TYLEY’s Group (TG). This project is led by one of its enterprise named “TYLEY’s Activated Carbon SA”. With over 10 years of experiences in mining activities, the TG through its 2 others companies (TYLEY’s Supplies and TYLEY’s Engineering) provides quality services and supplies to  the Gold companies in West Africa (Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Conakry Guinea, Mali, Liberia and Niger).

The TAC has employed an expert consultant (from Ghana) for identifying the potential challenges, opportunities, and strategies for successful implementation of the intended activated carbon manufacturing  

ØDeveloping Local Content (LC) in mining sector has emerged in the western African countries as a paramount concept to ease knowledge transfer and raise awareness.

ØThus, every Government has been championing the LC approach to fostering jobs opportunities for youth and women trough the initiative of new projects.

ØBuilding upon thi new policy strategy of LC, the TYLEY’s Group has identified an opportunity to link-up a partnership with an international company for Activated Carbon (AC) production in Ivory Coast.

- Activated Carbon (AC) is critical component in the beneficiation of gold ore, allowing this widespread process to occur of its ability to recover gold from the gold-cyanide complex. Processes using activated carbon have been adopted to recover gold from low grade ores and residue streams are: • Carbon-in-pulp (CIP), • Carbon-in-leach (CIL) • Carbon-in-column (CIC).

- Coconut shell activated carbon have the following inherent qualities that make them superior to activated carbons from other sources: •High hardness levels (> 97%): Ensures superior material handling and minimizes dust generation. •High surface area (up to 1500 m2/g): Gives high adsorption efficiency. •High microporosity (<20 Angstroms): Gives high adsorption and retention capacity. This is important for the removal of low-molecular weight organics and trace levels of contaminants. •Low ash content: Gives high purity preventing contamination of adsorbates. •High density: Provides for economical containement for the the same level of filtration.
